Baan Unrak Children's Home in Sangkhlaburi
Sacha, Tob and their children visited this warm and vibrant Baan Unrak Children's Home in Sangkhlaburi Province, on the border of Thailand and Myanmar. Occasionally, Pandan's proceeds were donated to this orphanage, home of over 130 orphaned children, run by Didi Donata.
Sangkhlaburi has it's own charm; multi-ethnic people wearing colorful costumes, the longest wooden bridge in Thailand, a beautiful yet melancholic Vijaralongkorn Lake (A dam was created over 30 years ago, which sunken many villages). Baan Unrak Chidren's Home is not an ordinary orphanage. They presented us a special performance which based on yogic movements (It's so good that they were invited to perform in Malaysia). They also run a homemade bakery in town, as well as a weaving room to produce fabric products, in order to provide single mothers with work. We joined them for a delicious vegetarian dinner and were able to organize a small Origami Class for the children. They open to accept volunteers.
